I don't have full entries on these, but wanted to take these notes for NaNoWriMo.
1. Why novel, not screenplay? in the efficiency of writing category, a screenplay seems easier right? And I have a ver visual way of seeing what going on in my stories. (Photographic memory: Blessing or Curse?) But I think because I have such a particular vision for what goes on, my stories are better expressed as fiction. And perhaps I can sell the rights and be part of the screenwriting process, and learn how that's done.
2. Regional and literary. My heroes are all regional novelists. So, I guess mine is a regional novel, which I hope becomes literary. To Kill A Mockingbird is a good example. It's very much along the lines of a "sense of place" novel, steeped in Southern culture. Yet really important human stories happen there, in Maycomb, and to those people who talk in a certain way. Making it literary. So I'm approaching my work as regional with the hope that something literary will happen.
3. Lists, recipes and letters: If it fits the characters, I think I'll pad my word count with grocery lists, recipes and emails/letters. These devices maight be clunky in the end and edited from a second, submissible draft, but I'm all about the 50K word count this year.
4. I heard about a cool word processor called Rough Draft. I'm off to see if it would work for the Mac. I would LOVE to get out of Bill Gates' box for this project.
